Sponsorship Information

We'd love to have your company sponsor one of the user group meetings! Austin Cloud User Group meeting sponsorship entails providing the food and drinks the day of the event. Specifics are up to you; we can provide a headcount from the RSVP list, normal turnout is about 30 folks and that's usually about $200-$300 in pizza and drinks. Please note you're not just on the hook for the tab, you're volunteering to arrange to get the actual food to the meeting site by the start time. The company sponsoring can provide a small logo that will be used in the page created for the day of the event. The company sponsoring will also get to speak for 5 minutes at the beginning of the event. And you get all kinds of goodwill from a variety of cloud professionals!

Basically day of, we give you the headcount off the Eventbrite; you call someone (Austin's Pizza is popular) to deliver food to Pervasive by 6 PM. A mix of veggie options and diet drinks is appreciated. Narasimha Tadepalli is our Pervasive on site contact, if they need someone's name.

You are also welcome to sponsor in alternate ways, door prizes or whatnot - Bazaarvoice provided an iPad Mini for the audience-voted favorite lightning talk from the Twelve Clouds of Christmas event, for example. Companies are always welcome to bring vendor swag, and we often have folks show up with tshirts/cups/stickers/whatever.

Group Member Blogs

Many of the members of this group have interesting blogs touching on cloud computing and related technologies that they should share! This page is for things you maintain personally, put miscellaneous interesting blogs/sites on the "Interesting Sites" page instead.

About Cloud Computing

What is cloud computing? For an introductory overview you should look at the excellent presentation by Michael Coté, analyst with RedMonk that was given during our Aug. 24th meeting. His slides are posted on the RedMonk blog and the audio of the meeting was recorded as an episode of the IT Management and Cloud Podcast.
